Accessible from the GR34 coastal path, this abbey in a unique blend of architectural and natural heritage in the heart of Paimpol Bay.

This abbey dates right back to the 13th century. The Canons of Prémontré came from the Abbaye de La Lucerne in Normandy to live in and shape this area up to the French Revolution. Sold as a piece of national heritage, it gained the status of Historic Monument in 1862. In partnership with France’s Coastal Preservation Trust who have owned the property since 1992, along with the Côtes d’Armor Conseil Départemental, this site has undergone an extensive restoration programme, and can now be enjoyed through exhibitions, shows and cultural events. Walking within this monument, you’ll discover its planted cloisters, a church open to the skies where hydrangeas and old roses flourish, you’ll find elegant rib-vaulted rooms where swallows and bats dwell peacefully, and you can drink in the incomparable views from the large windows of the refectory, looking onto the sea and neighbouring islands.
