The Trieux Estuary offers a surprising and delightful walk along the water’s edge, including natural wonders, maritime heritage fascinating buildings – so there’s something for all tastes!

The Trieux river runs for 72km crossing Guingamp then Pontrieux before ending up in an estuary of some 18km leading to the sea As well as the maritime façade and coastal gems of Loguivy de la Mer and Île de Bréhat, there are long, jagged riverbanks, cliffs, pine forests, moors, and broad coves where migrating birds come to rest.

Then the river narrows, the vegetation grows more densely, and the riverbanks reveal Lézardrieux port, the forest of Penhoat-Lancerf with its visitor centre, the Château de la Roche Jagu, Pontrieux and its ancient wash-houses…

Roche Jagu, Pontrieux and its ancient wash-houses… If you really want an unforgettable experience, head down the river in a kayak and through the lock!
